Asgard Simulated History
Coming Soon…
History of New Asgard.
1. The Creation of New Asgard (Years 0-99)
In the face of impending Ragnarök, Odin severed a portion of Asgard, casting it adrift on the Dream Sea as a sanctuary. This act marked the beginning of New Asgard's history.
Key events:
Year 0: Odin's Severing
Year 7: Arrival of the Vanguard (21 Valkyrie, 210 Vinnandi) who plant the now 7 year old Yggdrasil Sapling in New Asgard’s barren soil.
Year 15: The Great Tempest, a massive storm that threatened the young realm
Year 27: Rise of the Grottir, elemental beings born from New Asgard's volatile energies
Year 33: Construction of the Aerie begins
Year 52: The Bloom, a period of rapid growth and development
Year 89: The Ljósálfar Desertion
Year 99: Simulated Ragnarök
2. The Aftermath of Ragnarök (Years 100-213)
Following Ragnarök, New Asgard faced new challenges and threats.
Significant developments:
Year 100: Formation of the Fields of the Fallen, a metaphysical scar from Ragnarök
Year 107: The First Endless Night, 33 days of darkness and Draugr attacks
Year 121: Emergence of Karthis the Unmaker, the first known Deathless
Year 126: Rise of the Black Spire, triggering necromantic pulses
During this period, New Asgardian society began to take shape. The guild system, central to life in New Asgard, was established. Most inhabitants became members of one guild or another, forming the backbone of the realm's social and economic structure.
3. Present Day New Asgard (Years 213-231)
New Asgard continues to evolve and face challenges. The newly formed Global Recovery Council (GRC) on Earth is still grappling with the aftermath of the Rhyste Parasite pandemic. Communication between New Asgard and Earth is limited, with only official channels available through communication hubs in central cities.
Key aspects of current New Asgardian society:
- The guild system remains central to daily life
- Karls (human inhabitants) cannot have new families, as the Nine Realms Initiative did not account for population growth
- Vinnandi have longer lifespans (150-200 years) and can reproduce
- Valkyrie are immortal creations of the gods
Ongoing threats include the Draugr, the influence of the Black Spire, and the ever-present danger of the Dream Sea's unpredictable nature. The realm continues to be shaped by its inhabitants' efforts to build a stable society in the face of these challenges.
